VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Feeling lucky? Saturday is the final day to buy a ticket for your chance to win a record-setting Lotto 6/49 jackpot, estimated at $55 million.
Even if the lottery isn’t your thing, buying a ticket for the draw might be an extra attractive option, as the jackpot is standing at a new Canadian record.
Sarah Kiriliuk with the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation explains how the jackpot became the highest ever in our country’s history.
“When nobody has a matching ticket for the jackpot prize, it rolls (upward),” Kiriliuk said. “(This) is the single highest jackpot of any game in Canadian history.”
So if you think the number 13 is lucky, keep this in mind. Your chance of winning the jackpot are approximately 1 in 13 million, and the draw is actually happening on Saturday the 13th.
Despite the record-high jackpot, if no one wins we could actually see an even higher record next weekend.
“It could potentially be up in the 60?s somewhere, which is again, record-breaking areas,” Kiriliuk said.
Lottery kiosks are expected to be busy Saturday as people buy their tickets for the big prize.
